SHORT DESCRIPTION OF ORGANISATION OR DEPARTMENT

The Technology Transfer Office (TTO) whose core mission is to support and promote the production and transfer of knowledge from the University to companies and other stakeholders. UBU´s TTO is an active member of REDOTRI (Spanish university’s TTO Network), who promotes the role of universities as key actors within the Spanish Innovation System. It is also member of ProTonEurope (Europe Network of Knowledge Transfer). Besides the TTO works in close collaboration with both the Sectorial Policy Department of the Regional Government and the Innovation and Development Agency. As a result of the former agreement the TTO is founder member of 4 regional CLUSTERS in different fields of science and technology, among which CBECYL´s (The cluster of capital goods and industrial automation of Castilla y León) main activities are related to the scientific scope of this project. As a result of the latter agreement the TT O is connected to Galactea-Plus Network and Enterprise Europe Network.

PERSONAL WORK AREA

Currently the office is composed of six technicians. The specific objectives of the KTO within the University are: - Encouraging participation of the university community in R&D projects. - Building a database of knowledge, infrastructure and R&D inventory. - Identifying the outcomes generated by the different areas of research, evaluate their potential for transfer and communicate them to business, either directly or in collaboration with other liaison organisations. - Facilitate the practical aspects of transferring these outcomes to business. - Collaborate with research areas and businesses and participate in the negotiation of research contracts, technical assistance, consulting, patent licenses. - Encourage an entrepreneurial culture.

EU PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Since year 2000 UBU has been active in several Research & Innovation European Programmes (FP, CIP, Life, Cost, LLP) with several on-going projects in 7 FP (PROMISE, RADINTERFACES, EMAP, PIEDPIPER, SNIFFER) currently.
